NASA Lunabotics 2024 Competition

Sharksat Team Won a Launch Opportunity Through NASA’s CSLI

I am excited to share that our cube satellite team has won a launch opportunity through NASA’s CubeSat Launch Initiative (CSLI)! We will build our first cube satellite, SharkSat-1, to monitor LED-induced blue light pollution across Earth. Great work, SharkSat Team!
New Publication: Full Paper Accepted by ICTD 2024

The PACK Lab’s new paper, “Addressing Urban Traffic Congestion: A Hybrid DQN-Autoencoder Model with HyperOPT Tuning”, by Anurag Balakrishnan, Satyam Pathak, Pedro Herrera, and Tairan Liu, has been accepted by the International Conference on Transportation and Development (ICTD 2024). The team will present the paper in Atlanta, June 2024.
Serve as the Facuty Advisor of SharkSat Cube Satellite Team

Dr. Liu starts to serve as the faculty advisor of the SharkSat Cube Satellite Team. The team aims to design and deploy their cube satellites in the following years.

A collaborative paper with Dr. Muhammad Abdul Basit Ur Rahim’s team, “Using Deep Reinforcement Learning And Formal Verification in Safety Critical Systems: Strategies and Challenges”, by Satyam Sharma, Muhammad Abdul Basit Ur Rahim, Shahid Hussain, Muhammad Rizwan Abid, and Tairan Liu, has been accepted by the IEEE 23rd International Conference on Software Quality, Reliability, and Security (QRS 2023). The team will present the paper in Chiang Mai, Thailand, October 2023.

NASA Lunabotics 2023 Competition

Long Beach Lunabotics Team was placed 14th out of 50 teams overall and second for presentation in NASA Lunabotics 2023 Competitions. For the latter placement, the team was rewarded $2,000 to aid them in the 2023-2024 competition.

Launch Rocket with the Long Beach Rocketry in Mojave

Dr. Liu led the Long Beach Rocketry team to the rocket launch site in the Mojave desert for a pilot test of the rocket. The team will participate in a competition later this month.
